3-8-tivity has begun trials of its' highly innovative eCommerce on-line gallery software and panorama photographic services from its sibling company  3-8-tive 360˚ . The package is called ivGallery®, which stands for interactive virtual Gallery. It is a virtual gallery with a difference...

ivGallery is an on-line interactive virtual photographic tour of an entire exhibition. It has hotspots, so one can move around and experience the entire exhibition any time, any where, via the internet. What is new and innovative about ivGallery is that it has an invisible artwork/model/sculpture hotspot overlay feature with real-time links to our web application and database.

This basically means that while going through a photographically real virtual tour, one can click on any work of art (2- or 3-dimensional) or architectural model and it's “artwork resumé” will pop up. The artwork resumé displays details about the artist/architect and the selected work, any supporting images, video, sound; and any web eCommerce functionality required. The whole of the artwork/model is clickable - regardless of size or shape - and the hotspot area is invisible until one hovers over it - so as not to detract from the work itself or the ivGallery experience as a whole.

"We are very excited about this. This brings together our art, photography, and computing skills and interests into one package/service. Without knowing it or planning it way in advance, this is what we have been working towards for the last three or four years! That is to say, we have been looking for the best way to display art on the internet.

It is one of those things that we didn't even consider possible until recently (winter 2008/9). We were heading in a different direction for years! When we first realised the possibility of bringing together a number of disperate technologies to create what is, in our view, the ideal on-line gallery - we decided to drop everything else and focus all our resources on it. It has been a big gamble for us, and a huge investment. However, we are confident that this is the leading on-line virtual gallery/museum experience currently available. And there are lots more features and applications in the pipeline... It means we will be dealing extensively with the art and photographic world, and museums - people and organisations with whom we have shared interests and a lot in common..." Michael Autumn (MD)
